  • We've always loved visiting @styllgallery when they had a large store in Elora. We have many pieces in our home & garden, and have given many as gifts. They create and sell gorgeous works of art in various mediums - metals, ceramics, woods, and mixed media. . While driving around today, we were pleasantly surprised to rediscover them in the location they have been at for the past 7 years. A fact we were shocked to hear - time flies, I guess 🕑 Their pieces make for an excellent touch of personality to your home decor.   • Happy National Pierogi Day! 🥟 We recently visited Whiting, Illinois, home of the famous Pierogi Fest and checked out the quirky pierogi statues. These charming statues, each with their own unique personality, celebrate the rich cultural heritage and delicious flavors of pierogies. 🥟 From traditional potato and cheese to adventurous fillings, there’s a pierogi for everyone! Pierogies are typically boiled and then pan-fried to give them a crispy exterior while keeping the inside soft and flavorful.   • We checked off a couple more attractions from the book “Top Unusual Things to See in Ontario”. We keep this book in our car in case there is an attraction near where we are going on a road trip. (we often plan day trips around items in this book).  . On this road trip, we checked out:  . The Laithwaite Apple Park Statues is located near Goderich, Ontario. This is a fascinating collection of folk art sculptures created by George Laithwaite. These statues are made from cement, metal, fieldstone, and found materials, showcasing Laithwaite’s creativity and unique artistic vision.  The CNR School on Wheels Railcar Museum. This is a unique little museum located in Clinton, ON. The railcar was part of a program designed to bring education to children in remote areas of Northern Ontario. Fred Sloman, the teacher, and his wife, Cela, lived on the railcar with their five children, travelling through the northern bush to teach.  .  #unsualAttractions #roguetrippers #OntarioDayTrips
  • Today is World Tourism Day  🗺 The theme for this year is Tourism and Peace.  🌏 Tourism is a great way to bring people together and open minds to different lands, cultures, and experiences.  Travel makes the world seem a little smaller, broadens horizons, and builds bridges across the globe.  🌎 Eartha is the world’s largest rotating and revolving globe, located in Yarmouth, Maine. Whether you are choosing wood, climbing trees, or just like rocking the flannel, this day is all about embracing the history of lumberjacking. 🪵 The Tupper Lake Woodsmen statue - or 'Lumberjack Memorial' was erected to honour the rich logging industry history of Tupper Lake, NY.   • On this day, we celebrate the 128th birthday of the legendary writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald, the literary genius behind “The Great Gatsby” (and other works) was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota, on September 24, 1896! In Rice Park St Paul, MN, this bronze statue of Fitzgerald honouring the author stands tall against the backdrop of the Landmark Center building. The Landmark Center, built in 1902, is a stunning example of Romanesque architecture.
