  • A day trip through the town of Chesley, Ontario without a stop to visit Big Bruce the giant 15 foot tall Hereford Bull? 🐂 That's just not going to happen with @rogue_trippers. 🐂 @chesleybigbruce was voted Ontario's Greatest Roadside Attraction in 2021. And it is one of our favourites. It's not weird or quirky, just a giant representation of the bull., but still a great spot for a photo.... And we do have plenty. . We were even recently featured on Bruce County's tourism site - @explorethebruce ...   • The Wooly Mammoth of Tara, Ontario in Bruce County. 🦣 We learned of this statue a couple of years ago, but Tara just never made it onto our roadtrip plans, until this weekend.  🦣 In 1979 an area farmer found an item that turned out to be a tooth from a 12,000-year-old wooly Mammoth. 🦣 This sculpture was created by chainsaw artist Bobbi Switzer, and sits in the park at the corner of Whites Ave & Yonge St N next to the Tara Rotary Pool.  🪉 .   • Sometimes the best day trips are the ones you don’t plan at all — the kind where you stumble into something unexpectedly lovely. 🦆 Just outside Orillia, near Bass Lake Provincial Park, we wandered into the George Langman Sanctuary, and it ended up being the sweetest surprise. Swans, ducks, geese, pheasants, peafowl — even a few rabbits darting around like they owned the place. 🐇 There’s a relaxed little 2‑ish km trail looping around the marsh, complete with a boardwalk that pulls you right into the quiet of the wetlands. Some sections of the Fen are 'bottomless', and you can see how far you can push the pole in. 🦆 And the best part? It’s totally free to visit. You can grab corn or snacks from the dispensers and feed the animals… the swans absolutely make their enthusiasm known. 🦢 One of those simple, peaceful spots that makes you glad you took the detour. . #orillia #Ontariodaytrips #roguetrippers @orillialakecountry @visitorillia
  • One of Ontario's most iconic roadside attractions.... @bigapple401 🍎 As you drive on the section of the 401 highway between Toronto & Kingston... You can't miss the Big Apple smiling at you. 🍏 When you pull over... And visit... It is a bakery making a variety of apple goods including pies, bread (my favourite), tarts, donuts, fritters and so much more. There is a gift shop, cafe/ restaurant, candy store, cider, a petting zoo, mini putt, and photo opps. 🍎 And of course ...the Big Apple.
