  • Winter is Lit!
Take an illuminated walk in the woods.
❄️
We visited the Mountsberg Conservation area for their annual #Winterlit event.
The wooded trails of Mountsberg are made more magical with unique and beautiful light displays and photo opportunities.
You can take a leisurely stroll through the well lit trails, enjoy hot chocolate & cookies, warm up by one of the many fire pits, pick up a fire branded wood ornament, and enjoy a snack at the food truck.
❄️
The event runs until February 20th at Mountsberg Conservation Area in Campbellville.

  • We checked out the @lightsonstratford winter festival of lights last night.
There are so many cool light up art installations around the city...it's totally lit.
🔆
The theme for this year's festival is "REKINDLE – “relight (a fire) or revive (something that has been lost).” , and it runs nightly from 5pm - 10pm until January 29th.
💡
Use the handy guide provided by @visitstratfordon on their website, and take a self guided tour to the many displays.... And explore the beauty of the city of Stratford.

  • When most people think about taking a winter vacation, they often dream of frolicking on the beach as the waves of the ocean crash along the white sandy shores
🌊
Well....where some zig....we zag...
🤭
We still enjoy spending time at the beach and play in the ocean.
We just do it at black sand beaches in the north Atlantic.

📍 Vikurfjara Black Sand Beach and Basalt rock formations in the distance. These are lava columns formed by the rapid cooling of basaltic lava.

  • I absolutely love the beauty of waterfalls in winter....and there are so many gorgeous waterfalls in Iceland. We tried to visit as many as we could during our day trips.
🇮🇸
A few of the falls that we checked out are
- Seljalandsfoss
- Gljufrabui
- skogafoss

  • Exploring the beauty of the Icelandic landscape.
🇮🇸
We strapped on our crampons and got out and explored some of the iconic natural areas in Iceland:
- Hiked part way up the volcano
- Visited some of the local black sand beaches.
-check out some out-of-the-way hot springs
And....
Braved the strong winds and bitter temperatures and made the trek up to the solheimajokull glacier.

  • When you visit Iceland don't forget to pack your swimwear. (even in January)
🇮🇸
A visit to the @bluelagoonis is a bucket list destination for many when they travel to Iceland.
The Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa located in a lava field near Grindavik, Iceland about 20 minutes from #KEF airport. (45 min from Reykjavik).
The temperatures of the milky blue geothermal waters are typically between 37 & 40° C. Which makes for an interesting contrast to the chilly air around.
The silica in the geothermal seawater is good at absorbing oils, giving the water great healing powers for eczema, psoriasis, and acne.
🇮🇸
A day visit to the Blue Lagoon is not expensive, and your time in the water is very flexible. You are given one free drink, and a free mud mask with your visit. I highly recommend doing the mask. At first it felt a bit irritating on my skin, but afterwards my skin felt great.
