Just a double (full) rainbow on our way to our favourite bakeshop in Listowel.

  • Welcome to the real Bedford Falls.
🔔
If you enjoy the classic holiday movie “It’s a Wonderful Life” with James Stewart & Donna Reed, consider taking a road trip to Seneca Falls, NY.
🎄
While the film was shot in Hollywood, Seneca Falls, New York, is widely believed to have inspired the fictional town of Bedford Falls in the movie. Director Frank Capra visited Seneca Falls while working on the script with his screenwriters in late 1945.
🔔
The town embraces this connection with open arms. Its quaint, picturesque streets are brimming with festive decorations, twinkling lights, and the nostalgic charm we all associate with George Bailey's hometown. Visitors enjoy walking across the famous bridge, which is said to have inspired the pivotal scene where George contemplates his life. A plaque dedicated to a man who died while saving a woman from the river in 1917 is on display, and visitors can also place bells on the bridge.
🎄
The “It's a Wonderful Life Museum” is a delightful museum packed with memorabilia, including original scripts, photos, and props from the movie. Here, you can discover fascinating exhibits and stories that connect this charming town to the beloved film. You can see original scripts, personal items from the cast, letters and documents, recreated sets, Lego versions of scenes, and much more. It is a perfect place to visit for holiday roadtrips, and film fans alike!
🔔
The museum is open year-round in its temporary home: 76 Falls St.

  • The SS Keewatin is a fascinating piece of maritime history!
🚢
Built in 1907 by Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in Glasgow, Scotland, the SS Keewatin was commissioned by the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) to serve as a passenger liner on the Great Lakes.
⚓️
The ship is now a museum, docked in Kingston, Ontario, where visitors can explore its decks, cabins, and engine room through guided tours.
🚢
We recently took one such tour through The Haunted Walk of Kingston - "The Ghosts of the SS Keewatin", and we heard tales of her adventures on the Great Lakes.
The Titanic-era ship spent nearly 60 years navigating the haunted Great Lakes, where there have been many shipwrecks, sightings of phantom ships, and loss of life.
⚓️
While there may not be actual Ghosts on the ship (or maybe there are), this is a fascinating history lesson.
🚢
Tours can be booked through Hauntedwalk.com.

  • "You unlock this door with the key of imagination.
Beyond it is another dimension: a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You’ve just crossed over into… the Twilight Zone."
⏱️
Rod Serling, the creator & Narrator of the classic TV Show- The Twilight Zone grew up in Binghamton, NY.
To honour their hometown celebrity, Binghamton, NY, recently erected a statue of Rod in Recreation Park, where he spent many hours during his childhood.
🕦
There is also a gorgeous vintage carousel in the park that you can enjoy from Memorial Day to Labour Day, decorated by scenes from classic series episodes and a gazebo named after him.

  • Big Red. Big Fun.
📍
The iconic Radio Flyer red wagon has been a huge part of childhood for many young people for generations. It has practically been a childhood rite of passage.
📍
This iconic little red wagon has been a trusted companion for countless adventures since it first hit the scene in 1917. It's not just a toy; it's a symbol of imagination and exploration.
📍
In Clayton, NY, you can reimagine your childhood adventures on a grand scale. This giant Radio Flyer Red Wagon sits in a grassy field right along the main road into town.
.
If you are in the Thousand Islands Area, the wagon is just a short drive from the border.
